More than 15,000 people gathered on Sunday to watch the moment the world's largest plane landed in Perth, Australia, after an epic journey to transport a 117-tonne mining generator halfway around the world.

The Antonov An-255 Mriya, built to transport the Soviet space shuttle, Buran, is now used for cargo no other plane can handle.

The six-engine aircraft landed in Perth, with tens of thousands of fans cheering on as massive plane hit the tarmac.
