Pakistan opener Sharjeel Khan claims he has been receiving calls from blackmailers who have threatened to release ‘fake’ videos unless he pays a significant amount of money.

The 26-year-old southpaw released videos on his official Twitter and Facebook accounts, informing his fans about his predicament.

The left-hander did not reveal the amount asked from him by his alleged blackmailers, however, he urged his fans to ignore any such controversial videos in the coming days, calling them ‘fake’.

Meanwhile, The Express Tribune has learnt that extortionists have asked the southpaw for a sum of Rs0.2m. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has taken notice of the incident and directed its anti-corruption cell to take action in this regard.



Sharjeel Khan, who has played 11 one-days and 11 T20s for Pakistan, believes this incident is an effort to smear his name.
