PESHAWAR: A school information management system (SMIS) was inaugurated by Minister for Elementary and Secondary Education Muhammad Atif Khan at Lady Griffith Government Girls Higher Secondary School (GGHSS), Peshawar on Wednesday. The system will identify issues in schools and have them resolved through the relevant departments.

Addressing participants, the minister said SMIS has been established at all high-level private educational institutes across the country to keep a check on their students, teachers and other staff. However, he added, this was the first time K-P government had taken the initiative and installed SMIS in 400 higher secondary schools across the province at a cost of Rs45 million.

Rule of thumb

Atif said in the first phase, SMIS was established in higher secondary schools while in second and third phases, it will be installed in high, middle and primary schools as well.

“Parents, schools and education department will be connected with each other through the system as information regarding their children and education department will be a click away,” the minister said.

He said this software has been prepared by ISO Fast Solution Company and all parents whose children are enrolled in schools will register their institute through their CNICs and mobile number.

Atif said the basic purpose of SMIS was to provide information to parents and education department at the same time, enabling users to play their respective roles – make informed decisions and justify them based on concrete information.
