LAHORE:

The country cannot afford chaos, Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said on Tuesday.

He was talking to a delegation of elected representatives. “Conspiracies are being hatched to stop the development process through political agitation. Such efforts will fail,” he said.

The chief minister said that those who had got their loans written off using political influence and stolen the national wealth were criminals. “They will have to account for looting the nation. The time has come for taking them to task,” he said.

He said that those leveling allegations [against the government] in order to escape accountability would have to account for every penny stolen from the nation. “The country is passing through a critical situation. There is no room in politics to pursue personal interests,” he said.

He said that Pakistan was moving towards progress and prosperity. “Some politicians are once again trying to create hurdles in the march of development for achieving their personal interests. Some of our political opponents are out to stop national development. The people of Pakistan will foil all such conspiracies,” he said.

“Those promising a new Pakistan are hoodwinking the nation,” he said. Shahbaz Sharif said that all available resources were being utilised to overcome the energy crisis.

“The PML-N government is determined to complete all development projects on time,” he said. The CM said that all government policies were meant to ensure the progress and prosperity of the country.

CM congratulates

Separately, the chief minister congratulated former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gilani on the safe recovery of his kidnapped son, Ali Haider Gillani. In a message, the chief minister said that the recovery of Ali Haider Gillani was a good news.
