CHITRAL: Intense heat has caused glaciers to melt and therefore, widespread floods have recently been reported in Chitral. Subsequently, routine life has come to a standstill because several houses, crops, orchards, roads and bridges have been swept away in the flash floods in upper parts of the district. Locals told media the water level rose in Bang Bala area of Chitral, adding they did not predict the disaster. They said floods have taken away their belongings. The residents of Garam Chashma area said the bridge that connected their area to Chitral has been washed away by the floods, disrupting the flow of traffic as there is no alternate route. The connecting roads leading to Kalash valley, Lot Koh, Mastuj and Bumboret have been badly affected by the gushing water.
