PESHAWAR: Lawyers from across the province observed a strike at the call of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council on Monday to protest against the target killings of two senior lawyers in DI Khan. The lawyers in Peshawar boycotted courts and did not appear in proceedings, causing delays in cases. The newly elected president of Peshawar High Court Bar Association Muzamil Khan condemned the target killings of lawyers and demanded immediate arrest of the culprits. “We have asked the government to provide security to lawyers, but it is not moved by our requests or demands,” he said. “Lawyers are facing insecurity and under the Constitution of Pakistan, it is the responsibility of the state to provide security to its citizens.”
