Shehr-e-Kitab to be launched in Karachi and Peshawar, Managing Director National Book Foundation(NBF) Prof Dr Inamul Haq Javeid reiterated on Saturday.


A meeting to look into the matters of newly established ‘Shehr-e-Kitab’ situated at Jinnah Super Market, F-7 Markaz.

MD NBF asked the concerned section to immediately prepare a road map for the guidance of book lovers to reach ‘Shehr-e-Kitab’ and display it at appropriate corners of the city. Dr Javeid further said that literary ceremonies and visits of students from universities, colleges, schools and cultural departments would be soon be initiated.

Khalid Masood and the officers from different sections of NBF attended the meeting and gave their suggestions for improvement.

‘Shehr-e-Kitab’ consists of 28 outlets  including National Book Foundation, Mr Books, Jahangir Books, Kitab Ghar, Idara-e-Ilm-o-Irfan, Al-Faisal Publishers, Book Finders, Old Book Corner, Book Man, Readers Point, Rabia Book House, Ilmi Book Depot, Book Valley and others.

The management of National Book Foundation has planned to introduce its ‘Shehr-e-Kitab’ as a substitute literary point or tea house for the visitors of this city of books.
