ISLAMABAD:

The police have booked a woman for allegedly tampering with her marriage certificate.

The Koral police registered a case on court directives against Uzma Shaheen for tampering with her marriage registration certificate after her husband went to court. The police have also booked three Koral union council officials — Manzoor Hussain, Basharat and Tahir — of conniving with Shaheen in the forgery.

ASI Aurangzeb, the investigation officer for the case, told The Express Tribune that the suspects had added a clause in the certificate under which Shaheen’s husband was required to pay her Rs1 million in case of divorce.

Shaheen’s husband Faisal Mehmood said the original document did not contain any such clause.

The police official said that the change took place in 2013.
