Policy: Govt gets 15 days for appointment
He pleaded with the court to issue directions for his recruitment
LAHORE:
Lahore High Court ordered the Education Department on Friday to recruit within 15 days a visually-impaired person as an educator. Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah was hearing a petition filed by Hafiz Junaid Mehmood, a visually-impaired person. The petitioner’s counsel submitted that his client had qualified the test and interview for the post of an educator in the Education Department but the authorities concerned had refused to recruit him on the pretext that under the recruitment policy a disabled person could not be recruited as an educator. He said the policy was a violation of the fundamental rights. He pleaded with the court to issue directions for his recruitment. A provincial law officer submitted that the visually-impaired people could not maintain discipline or write on the black board. The court directed the authorities to appoint the petitioner within 15 days.
