LAHORE:

A Lahore High Court division bench will continue to hear on Thursday (tomorrow) arguments on a government application seeking permission to submit details of the Orange Line Metro Train project agreement with China in judges’ chamber rather than in the open court.

On Tuesday, Attorney General of Pakistan Ashtar Ausaf and the Punjab advocate general argued before the bench, headed by Justice Abid Aziz Sheikh. The bench had held proceedings in Justice Sheikh’s chamber. Later, the proceedings were held in open court. Punjab government’s counsel Advocate Shahid Hamid also presented his arguments.

At the start of the hearing, Justice Sheikh said that the court had not yet dismissed the application of the federal government about presenting the agreement in chambers. The court adjourned further hearing for Thursday (tomorrow). On January 28, the bench had stayed the construction work at 11 sites, including Chauburji, the GPO, the SC registry building, Shalamar Gardens, Buddhu Ka Awa, Dai Anga’s tomb and Nabha Chowk.
