The provincial government has released Rs4.4 million each for the family members of two lady health workers – Sitara Gul and Kaneez Nargis – to recognise their services.
This was stated in a notification issued by the finance department on Tuesday, the funds have been given under the Shuhada package. “
Of the total amount, Rs3.3 million was given as cash compensation,
while Rs1.1 million was provided to them for a piece of land.”
On March 17, 2015, two two lady health workers and their police escort were gunned down near the Brairi camps for Afghan refugees in Mansehra district.
The polio vaccination campaign was suspended for an indefinite period of time. At the time of the attack, the health workers were administering polio drops to children under the age of five.
