Mardan murder: Constable manning post at Police Lines shot dead

MARDAN:

A police constable was shot dead by two unidentified men early Monday morning at Police Lines in Mardan.

According to official report constable Sher Muhammad was on duty outside Police Lines at around 2:00am when two men came close to him, shot him and ran away.

Constable Muhammad Jan in his report stated that he saw the whole incident from his post above a building in the residential blocks of police personnel.

Constable Jan said when he heard the shot he looked down and saw two unidentified men, “I opened fire on them but they ran away.”

Constable Sher Muhammad was shot in the head and died on the spot, Jan recalled.

Police have lodged a case in the Counter Terrorism Department and started investigations.

Funeral of Constable Sher Muhammad was held at 11:00am on Monday in Police Line. Commissioner Mardan Zakir Afridi, DPO Mardan Faisal Shehzad, SP Shahid Khan, SP Shafih Ullah Gandapur, DSP Headquarters, DSP City and other people.
