LAHORE:

An additional district and sessions judge on Saturday sought comments from the Islampura SHO on a petition filed by a contractor seeking a case against a consultant for threatening to kill him for demanding the money spent on a civic scheme.

Muhammad Ismaeel submitted that he owned a construction company. He said he had reached an agreement for the construction of a drain in Manga Mandi at a cost of Rs70 million. He said the project’s cost had later gone up to Rs10 million as the drain’s depth had to be increased following input from the local MNA.

He said when he demanded the amount, Sheikh Usman, an official with the consultancy firm, asked for a Rs10 million bribe to approve the additional expenditures. He said Usman had later fixed the cost’s project at Rs50.5 million.

Ismaeel said Usman had roughed him up, threatened to kill him and snatched Rs65,000, a cell phone and some documents from him. He requested the court to direct the SHO to register an FIR against Usman.
