On Tuesday, a Khan Bela resident came in to the hospital emergency ward. “She was having a premature delivery and we delivered twins,” said Dr Samar Mubarak.
“The woman was extremely poor and kept saying she couldn’t afford to have twins during the delivery,” Dr Mubarak said.
Following the delivery medical officials placed both children in an incubator. “One of the children is extremely weak given that this was a premature delivery and we are hoping she can make it,” Dr Mubarak said, adding “when we returned to the room with the babies the mother was gone.”
The children’s mother listed Aashiq Hussain as the twins’ father. Both children are now being referred to as the Aashiq twins.
“Right now they are both incredibly weak and we are monitoring their condition.
If their mother does not return to claim them soon then we will arrange an adoption,” Dr Mubarak told reporters.
