PESHAWAR:

Unidentified motorcyclists gunned down a doctor and her father-in-law, in Gulbahar on Monday morning.

The doctor has been identified as Zainab Iftikhar while her father-in-law has been identified as  Sabir Imdad. Iftikhar and Imdad were travelling in a car when three armed men on a motorbike intercepted them and opened fire, killing both of them on the spot. Iftikhar worked at IRNUM Hospital while her father-in-law, a Hindko poet and author of several books, worked at a private firm on University Road.

“They left their house as per their routine,” a relative told The Express Tribune. “Iftikhar used to drop her child to school and then drop her father-in-law to his office before going to her hospital.” Imdad had retired from Pakistan Air Force in 1988 and had been working for a private firm.
