Teaching: HEC chief stresses need for innovation

Says idea of smart classrooms will be materialised soon

ISLAMABAD: Innovation in teaching and learning system has become utmost need of the hour with modern inventions and changing environment.

This was said by Higher Education Commission (HEC) Chairman Dr Mukhtar Ahmed on Monday. He was speaking at inaugural ceremony of two-day international conference ‘Innovation in Teaching and Learning’ organised by the university.

The conference is being attended by over 100 researchers from Pakistan and abroad.

“We are fully aware of changing environment and new trends of technologies and soon every classroom will be a smart classroom” Dr Mukhtar added.

He hoped that the conference would set new avenues in teaching and learning system and end-up with some tangible outcome. The chairman further apprised that government has taken number of positive initiatives to improve learning systems. He said that government has increased the budget of higher education and scholars were being provided scholarships and research funding.

IIUI President Dr Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh was guest of honour at the ceremony.

He was of the view that through education every social evil can be eliminated from the society. It is only solution to curb menace of terrorism and extremism, he said. He hoped the conference would set some practical recommendations to make innovations in teaching and learning system.
