COMSATS convocation: Over 700 graduates awarded degrees

Graduating degree holders include six PhD scholars, 217 masters and 519 bachelors

ISLAMABAD: The COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT) Islamabad on Saturday awarded degrees to 742 graduate and post-graduates in its 89th convocation.

The graduating degree holders included six PhD scholars, 217 masters and 519 bachelors. Among the PhD recipients, two each were from disciplines of biosciences, electrical engineering and physics.

Federal Secretary for Science and Technology Fazal Abbas Maken and COMSATS Executive Director Dr Imtinan Elahi Qureshi were guests of honour.

The degrees were awarded in bio-chemistry and molecular biology, bio-informatics, bio-sciences, business administration, business studies, banking and finance, computer science, economics, electronics, energy management, engineering, health informatics, information security, management sciences, mathematics, meteorology, microbiology and immunology, molecular genetics, molecular biology, molecular genetics, physics and project management.

Bio Sciences Department head Dr Raheel Qamar, while presenting a report on CIIT’s recent achievements, said it was Pakistan’s first and only university to publish 1,000 research papers in internationally research journals in 2015.
