Noble cause: The rich should take care of the poor, says Shahbaz

The CM praised businessman Shehzad Saleem and his family for building the hospital

LAHORE:

“Those who are well-off should serve the ailing humanity. Pakistan will become a welfare state if the rich start spending on the well-being of the poor,” Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said on Friday.

He was speaking at a ceremony to lay the foundation stone for Saleem Memorial Trust Hospital in Mohlanwal on Multan Road.

The chief minister praised businessman Shehzad Saleem and his family for building the hospital. He said he hoped that the hospital would provide quality healthcare services to common man. He said the poor had a lot of expectations from the affluent people.

Sharif said the no-profit model adopted by Salim Memorial Trust Hospital had been successful elsewhere.

Metro train

“The Orange Line Metro Train project is one of the gifts of Pakistan-China friendship,” the chief minister said during a meeting with a delegation led by the vice president of NORINCO, a Chinese company working on the project. Sharif said civil works for the project were of high quality. He said the project would be a masterpiece of architecture, transparency and quality. He said the scheme would provide modern travel facilities to the citizens. The NORINCO vice president said he hoped the project would be completed ahead of schedule.
