Mehreen Amin from Khazana, the exclusive distributers of Amrapali Jaipur in Pakistan, shares her timeless jewellery collection and talks about how her love for Amrapali Jewellery led her into bringing the franchise to Pakistan
How and when did you get interested in jewelry?
I have had a passion for jewellery for as long as I can remember; a trait that I have most likely inherited from my elders.
What are your favourite pieces of jewelry?
I love all of my pieces, so it’s very difficult to choose a favourite amongst them. However, there are a few pieces that I’m emotionally attached to. I can’t start my day without wearing my everyday jewellery, which includes my Amrapali Royal Bengal ring, a Cartier Love Eternity diamond ring and my Rolex Cellini. My entire collection of jewellery comprises more or less of Amrapali pieces that I have acquired over the years. I love my antique gold and ruby cuff along with my carved tourmaline earrings — this list won’t be complete without my Miss Universe necklace set and my silver Royal Maharani necklace, all from Amrapali!
Where did you get these pieces?
The Rolex Cellini was originally a wedding anniversary present from my late father to my mother and she passed it on to me. The rest are all gifts from my husband on various occasions.
Is there any piece you are emotionally attached to and why?
Since most of my jewels are gifts, each carries emotional and sentimental value for me. These pieces manage to take me down memory lane and serve as a constant reminder of how loved I am.
Share a story with us about how you acquired one of your favourite pieces?
My husband and I have been avid Amrapali collectors for years, we would always be up-to-date with their latest collection. When I saw their Royal Bengal ring, it was love at first sight and I just had to get my hands on it! This also gave us the idea of bringing the franchise to Pakistan.
Is there anything on your radar that you want to get in the future?
Definitely! I have my eyes on an Amrapali lotus ruby and rose cut diamond necklace set. A similar one was recently featured on the cover of Wall Street Journal’s fine jewellery catalogue.
