ISLAMABAD: A student in Islamabad, Ibrahim Shahid, set a new world record by scoring 23 As in Cambridge O level exams.

Shahid, a student of a private school in Islamabad, sat for 24 subjects and scored 23 As.

Attributing his success to his parents, Shahid recalled an incident where his teacher in Australia had written him off, stating that he would “never excel”. He added that every child is special and everyone has their own capabilities.

Earlier, Ali Moeen Nawazish, also a Pakistani student, had set a world record by securing 23 As in A level Cambridge exams.

Awesome news! Great work Ibrahim Shahid and May Allah give you the vision to work for Pakistan and contribute to society.
Pakistan’s really got Brains and talent. Imagine if only the kids in the villages who sit on dirt with cows roaming around etc got a proper education… where would we be then? The only reason that doesn’t happen is that the politicians, army dictators and the landlords find it easier to rule over a ignorant public.Recommend

He is not doing anything to seek attention. How could you even say those words! True! That his 23 As might not change the corrupt politicians, but what does that has to do with his achievement??? He has made our nation proud – a nation that has lost all hopes! It’s people like him who change the way others think about us. I wonder how can anyone post such comments on this great news! I second your point Ms Amna, Mr Charaami seems to me a pessimist of all times. Somebody tell me any one sector from which we are getting good and hopeful news for our country. In this bleak situation it is atleast one ray of light, a hope. Something re-instating in our mind that we Pakistanis have the talent.
The softer image of our country.
May this not change our politicians but i’m sorry we as nation are more responsible for this current scenario of our Country. Tell me how many times have you protested on price hikes, how many times you have been part of any peaceful protest to change things.

Quite an achievement no doubt, but the repercussion of such a feat must have social consequences for the child i.e. extra curricular activities, social communication and commentary, critical thinking etc. We are a nation of people with emotions and intellect rather than one of robots with algorithms and computer chips. I was in school with someone who got 14 As in his O Levels but when he was asked to give a speech at another private school to aspiring O Level students, the fella couldn’t speak in public,he was stammering, stuttering, was looking at his feet. His mother came to the podium to speak on his behalf and end the horror.

well done boy! I appreciate your effort.

However, there’s another dimension to this status.

we find students getting immersed in studies & tutions to get more & more scores, though good scores are great achievement, I was disappointed by a PhD school principle.
I was discussing about the academic progress of my daughter, when she told me what the ultimate aim of hardwork was. it was not to understand what you’ve studied but to reproduce ditto in the exam paper, by doing so, she said:
1st – you get good marks
then – get admission at a reputed higher education institute
then – after getting good grades from a reputed institute
then you’ll get a good package in your job.

Notwithstanding the fact that most of toppers in past were not the in the top job slots or the most successful people,
Is it finally just the good package that we’re focussing on?
aren’t we interested to develop our society by grooming better human beings?
Is it money only that matters in the practical life?

I’ve seen real happy & comfortable people with
_not even owning simple foam matresses, ACs, personal car, mobile phone,
_no greed to acheive even a middle class status,
    _having healthy friends and family,
    _having good wishes and
_doing something practically for a better society.

    I’ve also seen billionaires
_who are unable to sleep properly without medicines,
_having pain of harming somebody for their personal gain,
_see going astray even a single family member or dear friend and
_realize all this when they’ve grown into their 50s or 60s.

Lets guide our young generations about more important things in life, which matter for our own inner happiness, collective wellbeing of society and also for our success for the eternal life.Recommend

    Appreciation To Ibrahim Shahid:
I warmly felicitate Ibrahim on his success. It is requested to others also to appriciate, encourage and support these people on individual and governmental level as well. After all, such young-stars are truly our country’s prime assets.

Accepting him as my younger brother, I advise, “Be brave in the hard times of life. Never get down own high moral”.

Allah may bestow you with more success in life so that you and people like you can serve Pakistan while holding the justice parameters.Recommend

Congratulations on your fantastic achievements Ibrahim.
May many more children from your country work hard and excel as you have done in obtaining a broad based education. It is the key to progress. Share your skills and your self-study timetable with your juniors at school so that they too may excel like you. Have a good happy life young man.Recommend

    @ Mr. Singh

We have been going through with excellent, fine and hghly appreciative comments from people from Pakistan and around the world for the achievement of Ibrahim that no doubt would certainly be the desire of every student not only at home in Pakistan but at many places in world. I understand that you are an Indian or a Canadian citizen (or a US one), but the way you have made your observations is highly “COMMENDABLE” and reflects that borders and societies cannot effect upon thoughts and appreciation of people like you. On behalf of Pakistan and all Pakistanis, please accept our sincere gratitutdes for your fine comments for a Pakistani Star.Recommend
