Calamity risk: Four earthquakes felt across province

The PMD website said the epicentre of the earthquake was the Hindukush region in Afghanistan

Four earthquakes with increasing readings on the Richter scale according to Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) seismic monitoring unit were recorded across the province on Friday.



The jolts were felt in various parts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa causing panic in Malakand Division with the last recorded earthquake taking place at around 7:30pm measuring up to 5.3 on the Richter scale.


The PMD website said the epicentre of the earthquake was the Hindukush region in Afghanistan.


The people in Malakand Division rushed out of their houses in fear after the jolts were felt in areas that have seen much damage due to floods and landslides during the past week.


PMD also predicted more landslides and flashfloods as rain lashed several parts of the province on Friday evening.
