KHAR:

A sports gala will be organised in Bajaur Agency to pay tribute to those who have lost their lives in militancy-related incidents.

This was said by Assistant Political Agent Fayaz Sherpao. He was speaking at a news conference in Khar. “FATA Sports Gala will be held in the agency from April 12,” he said. “A series of events at the gala will be named after the martyrs.”

He added the cricket tournament will be named after Ibrahim Khan and Noor Hakeem – two journalists who have lost their lives.

“A football contest will be named after levies force personnel who have died in the line of duty,” he said. “The volleyball tournament will be named after tribal elders who have lost their lives in militancy-related incidents. The badminton tournament will be named after association president Hanifur Rehman while the basketball tournament will be named after Nawabzada Salahuddin, brother of PML-N MNA Salahuddin Khan, who was killed by militants.

According to Sherpao, the governor of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa or Malakand Commissioner will inaugurate the gala and teams from all over the tribal belt will participate in the tournament.

“The event will promote a soft image of Bajaur Agency,” he said.
