Preventive custody: Rangers detain STP activist

Rangers’ law officer informed the judge that the suspect was detained during a raid in Korangi neighborhood recently

KARACHI: The Rangers informed the anti-terrorism court on Tuesday about the 90-day detention of Sindh Taraq Pasand party (STP) activist, Ghulam Ali, held for his alleged involvement in subversive activities. The paramilitary force produced the suspect before the administrative judge of the anti-terrorism courts. The Rangers’ law officer informed the judge that the suspect was detained during a raid in Korangi neighborhood recently. He claimed that there is credible information about his involvement in bomb blasts at the railway tracks in the past. The suspect has been placed under preventive detention for three months under Section EE1111 of the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997. The judge accepted the report and ordered the constitution of a joint investigation team.
