Honoured: Adil Najam elected WWF trustee

Boston University Dean Dr Adil Najam has been elected as a trustee of the Worldwide Fund for Nature (WWF), said a statement issued on Monday. The statement said that Najam was a leading scholar and global thinker on matters related to environment and development. “He has worked with international, intergovernmental and non-governmental organisations in the fields of human and sustainable development,” it said. Dr Najam holds a PhD and two master’s degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He was the lead author for the third and fourth assessment reports of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). The WWF International Board is chaired by Yolanda Kakabadse, former Ecuadorian Minister of Environment, and includes Neville Isdell, former chairman and CEO of the Coca Cola company; Dame Alison Richard, former vice chancellor of the University of Cambridge; and Sir Andrew Cahn, former UK Trade and Investment Agency chief executive officer.
