Out on the streets: Students cry foul over peer’s death

A seven-member enquiry committee including doctors, police, Agriculture University VC and one student has been formed

University of Peshawar students came out on the streets on Monday against the death of a first-year student at Khyber Teaching Hospital (KTH). The enraged students accused a doctor of administering expired injections to the student.


Talking to The Express Tribune, Hassan Ali Khan, a classmate of the deceased, said Bahadur was a first year BBA student from Mardan. He said Bahadur’s condition was serious in the morning and he was vomiting. “We rushed him to KTH, where the doctor administered an injection, after which he soon died,” added Hassan.


As news of the death spread, students of University of Peshawar, Agriculture University and Islamia College University rushed to the hospital, blocked University Road. A seven-member enquiry committee including doctors, police, Agriculture University VC and one student has been formed. Post-mortem reports awaited.
