Ali Xeeshan, the imaginative fashion designer, talks about his passion for jewellery and his never-ending wish list!
How/When did you get interested in jewellery?
From day one as a child I was always interested in jewellery, I remember I would try to embellish and enhance whatever I could, from my room to my clothes to my own self. Come to think about it, even my brand is all about adornment, decoration, and presentation. I think jewellery plays a vital role in making a statement; it’s like the cherry on top!
What are your favourite pieces of jewellery (precious or costume)?
My favourite piece from my jewellery collection would have to be my every-day diamond-encrusted hoop earrings.
Is there any piece you are emotionally attached to and why?
I wouldn’t call it an emotional attachment, but I get nostalgic whenever I look at my earrings. They refresh my memory and take me back to my trip to Europe. I love Paris so much that I wish I were born there and that just enhances the sentimental value of my earrings.
Share a story with us about how you acquired one of your favorite pieces?
Last summer on my way back to Pakistan, I saw these glistening diamond hoops displayed in a counter at the Paris airport. I instantly fell in love with them and just had to acquire them, a spontaneous splurge that I cherish to this day!
Is there anything on your radar that you want to get
in the future?
I have a huge wish list; there are so many things on my radar it’s not even funny. From a Chopard watch to a Cartier love bracelet, I want them all!
