LAKKI MARWAT: The head of a seminary was charged on Tuesday with raping a student in Bachkan Ahmadzai village of Lakki Marwat.

An official of Tajori police station told The Express Tribune, a 13-year-old boy who studied at Madrassa Muhammadia Ghausia was raped thrice by Maulana Saifullah. The official said the incident took place on March 27.

According to the 13-year-old, the teacher had asked him to bring water to his room so he could perform ablution. When he went to Saifullah’s room, the boy was held down, tied and raped. The teacher threatened him with dire consequences if he told anyone about the incident.

“The next day, Saifullah had to go out for some urgent work,” the official said. “As a result, the boy managed to escape and went home. He told his father about the incident.” The family filed a complaint with Tajori police station.

Saifullah was arrested on Tuesday after the 13-year-old filed his complaints. The head of the seminary has confessed to raping the boy only once.

In recent weeks, rape cases have been reported across the province. On March 27, an eight-year-old boy was raped in Palosai village within the jurisdiction of Tehkal police station in Peshawar. The father of the victim registered an FIR, stating his eight-year-old son was whisked away by Ihsanullah and raped. The perpetrator later warned the minor against telling anyone about the incident.
