LAHORE:

Members of the Pakistan Bar Council, the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA), the Punjab Bar Council (PbBC), the Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA), the Lahore Bar Association (LBA) and the Tax Bar Association would rally in the city on Tuesday (today) to condemn Sunday’s suicide attack at Gulshan-i-Iqbal Park in which at least 72 people had died and 370 were injured.

The lawyers would also observe a ‘black day’ across the province. The rallies will start from the Supreme Court Registry and conclude at Charing Cross on The Mall. The LBA members will rally from Aiwan-i-Adl to the Provincial Assembly.

Speaking to The Express Tribune, LBA secretary Shahid Nawab Cheema said representatives of Sheikhupura, Gujranwala, Okara and Ferozewala bar associations would also attend the rally. He demanded that the government resign for its failure to ensure protection of  its citizens.

SCBA president Syed Ali Zafar said the nation was united against terrorism. He urged SCBA members and their families to donate blood for the victims.
