Vacant Senate Seat: ECP, PML-N leader put on notice
A division bench comprising Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb issued the notice for April 14
ISLAMABAD:
The Islamabad High Court issued a notice to the Election Commission of Pakistan and Sardar Yaqoob Ahmed Khan Nasir of the ruling PML-N in connection with a petition challenging his candidacy for the recently vacated seat in the Senate from Islamabad. A division bench comprising Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb issued the notice for April 14. Waqar Niaz through his counsel Hafiz Arfar Ahmed Chaudhry challenged the acceptance of Yaqoob’s nomination papers, maintaining that Yaqoob, a permanent resident of Loralai, Balochistan, got his vote transferred from his constituency (NA-263) to Islamabad only a few days ago, when the ruling party decided to “accommodate” him on the vacant seat.
