KARACHI:

Left-arm spinner Zulfiqar Babar said that Pakistan’s biggest mistake in the World T20 was not including genuine spinners in the side, giving the example of New Zealand who have been banking on their slow bowlers instead of star pacers Trent Boult and Tim Southee.

“We lacked genuine spinners throughout and we were depending a lot on our quicks to deliver. In subcontinental conditions, you have got to attack with spinners,” Zulfiqar told The Express Tribune.

I'm not fit to be Pakistan skipper: Afridi

“Other teams changed their planning and included more frontline spinners to ensure they are best suited for the conditions, such as New Zealand who are now favourites in my books.”

Speaking on the loss against Australia, Zulfiqar said that Pakistan didn’t seem up for it in the bowling and fielding departments, while he felt that the batting did try, but in the end 194 was a big task.

The suffering’s over

Zulfiqar also praised Afridi, terming him a great entertainer for both Pakistan and world cricket.
