Participants at the meeting gave a comprehensive presentation to the PM for steps being taken for creating a premier airline that should be a reflection of the past image of the national flag carrier internationally.
Pakistan Airways registered as PIA subsidiary
The meeting reviewed progress on bringing Pakistan Airways at par with international airlines. PM Nawaz Sharif directed the authorities concerned that the crew and staff of Pakistan Airways should be trained from best institutions. Except core business, rest of the services should be outsourced to meet the professional standards, he added.
There should be lean management structure for optimising airlines efficiency and service delivery and the emoluments structure should commensurate with the quality of human resource, the PM emphasised.
Morning call
Earlier in the morning, US Ambassador David Hale called on PM Nawaz Sharif. During the meeting PM Nawaz said Pakistan is desirous of bringing greater depth and economic substance to its relationship with the US.
PM undecided over Pakistan Airways’ future
Appreciating the efforts of Pakistan to restore peace in Afghanistan, Ambassador Hale said that initiatives including the Quadrilateral arrangement will prove significantly beneficial in bringing peace to Afghanistan.
