The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government on Friday demanded that the federal government provide the AJK a share in the net hydel profit equal to the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P).
This was demanded through a resolution passed in a cabinet meeting, chaired by the AJK Prime Minister Chaudhry Abdul Majeed.
The cabinet also asked the federal government to use maximum water resources of the region for the hydel generation to overcome the rising energy crisis in the country.
The cabinet also approved implementation of the National Basic Health Programme, special quota in the government jobs for Mangla Dam aftectees and the residential rights for Mirpur Staff Colony’s non-gazetted employees.
The AJK cabinet also condemned the direct funds allocation from the Kashmir Council to the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz AJK chapter MLAs and termed it an attempt to influence voters prior to July 2016 general elections.
The cabinet also condemned recent March 16 blast in Peshawar in which 16 people, mostly government employees, were killed. They also condemned the rising human rights violations in Indian administered Jammu and Kashmir.
