Revenue: ETD recovers Rs80m as property tax

The Excise and Taxation Department (ETD) has sealed 3,500 properties of chronic tax defaulters and has recovered Rs80.42 million in property taxes during February.


A spokesperson for the ETD said on Friday that the Excise Department had issued the property owners several notices, requesting them to pay property tax on priority. He said most of them had ignored the notices and had not paid the tax.


The ETD took serious notice of this, he said, and launched a campaign against property tax defaulters.


More than 3,500 properties were sealed. The department also recovered Rs.80.42 million as property tax in the last month, the spokesperson said.
