West Indies through to Super-Eights

Express May 03, 2010

KARACHI: Hosts West Indies beat England by eight wickets in a rain-delayed match to confirm their place in the Super-Eights of the World Twenty20.

England scored 191 batting first but a rain interruption set West Indies a revised target of 60 from six overs. Following the blistering start that captain Chris Gayle (25 off 12) had provided, the hosts were left needing only 19 off 15 balls. Despite Pollard’s stumping for nought, Chanderpaul and Fletcher made sure the hosts gained maximum points and become the second team to qualify for the next round.
