PESHAWAR:
A division bench of PHC sought a reply from Ehtesab Commission on Thursday regarding a bail application filed by appellant Muhammad Naheed Awan.
Awan was arrested in a mines and mineral case by the commission. The bench comprising Justice Irshad Qaiser and Justice Syed Afsar Shah heard the application filed by Awan through his advocate Fazale Haq Abbasi.
The bench was informed that according to the Ehtesab law, once a reference was filed at the Ehtesab courts, a hearing should be completed within 90 days. “However, the appellant has been behind bars since the last six months and cannot be kept there now according to Ehtesab law,” Haq argued.
