Anti-polio drive: Fazal for adoption of ‘zero-tolerance policy’

The Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) Minister of State, Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhary, said that a policy of zero tolerance be adopted against polio in the whole country, especially Islamabad.


He issued these directives, while chairing a meeting of “Islamabad task force for polio eradication”, here on Monday.

Prime Minister’s Focal Person on Polio Eradication Senator Ayesha Raza, Chief Commissioner Zulfiqar Haider, officials from the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration attended the meeting.

The state minister warned that if any polio case was detected in the capital, strict action would be taken against those found responsible.  A drive to administer polio drops will be launched soon, it was learnt.

Chaudhary directed that the most efficient and capable teams be deputed in high-risk areas.

He also directed that during the drive, coordination between all departments should be ensured by holding a meeting on a daily basis. The minister was briefed that not a single polio case  was detected in the Islamabad since 2008.
