Quality assurance: Bottled water factories, hospital sealed

ISLAMABAD:
The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Administration has sealed two factories producing mineral water under the brand names Fountain Dew, Pure Drinking Water and Maple Dew in Sohan UC without a no objection certificates. The Pakistan Standard Quality Control Authority licenses for these factories had also expired. In addition, administration officials found used water bottles being cleaned and refilled at the same sites. Four persons were arrested and sent to Khanna Police Station. Samples of bottled water were sent for testing.Meanwhile, as part of campaign against unhygienic meat, the Saddar zone assistant commissioner checked 12 meat shops in Tarnol Bazar and found six shops selling unhygienic meat. Fines of Rs75,000 were imposed on these shops. Separately, Ali Medical Centre — a fake hospital in the same area — which was previously sealed, was found to have reopened. The building was resealed and an FIR registered against the hospital owner.
