LAHORE:

Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday expressed dissatisfaction with Lahore Development Authority Director General (DG) Ahad Cheema for not showing up for the hearing of a case. Justice Farrukh Irfan Khan also questioned the government’s failure to appoint a permanent DG. The judge heard a contempt of court petition filed by a woman submitting that the LDA had not allotted her a plot after the court had issued a directive in this regard. The court had summoned Cheema on Thursday.

However, counsel for the LDA told the court that Cheema could not appear before the court due to his engagement in a meeting of National Electric Power Regulatory Authority.

Justice Khan warned of striking down the additional charge given to Cheema. The judge then adjourned the hearing until March 29.
