KARACHI: An anti-corruption court remanded on Thursday a senior Sindh Education Foundation (SEF) official into police custody for two more days in a corruption case involving Rs70 million. The provincial anti-graft watchdog had arrested former SEF finance director Sukhri Rehman on March 7 for allegedly embezzling public funds allocated for education in 2012 and 2013. He has been accused of awarding contracts to procure books, stationery, bags and uniforms meant for students of SEF partner schools without obtaining approval from the competent authority. As Rehman was reproduced in court at the end of his first physical remand, the investigating officer submitted that they required two more days to interrogate the suspect and arrest the absconders in the case.
