Victorious: Bannu claims trophy at district games

Lakki Marwat grabbed five gold medals, as many silvers and scored 42 points

PESHAWAR: On the last day of the Inter-District Women Games in Bannu Division, Naila shone through as the best athlete with gold medals in the 100, 200 and 400 metres.

A handout from the Directorate of Sports stated Aleena from Bannu and Kiran of Lakki Marwat took silver and bronze in the 100 and 200 metre races, while Nargis and Bisma of Lakki Marwat won silver and bronze medal in the 400 metres.

As a result, Bannu claimed the overall trophy when the event concluded at Government High School No1 Bannu.

Bannu recorded victories in seven out of 13 events, while Lakki Marwat players gave the district a tough fight by taking first position in six different competitions.

Lakki Marwat grabbed five gold medals, as many silvers and scored 42 points. Yasmeen and Javeria won silver and bronze medals for shot put. Both women are from Lakki Marwat.

Naeema of Bannu took gold in 800 metres, while Lubna grabbed the silver and Irum took bronze. The latter is also from Lakki Marwat.

For the high jump, Hifsa of Lakki Marwat won first place, while Basreen of Bannu and Kiran of Lakki Marwat won silver and bronze, respectively.

In the javelin throw, Nargis of Lakki Marwat took gold medal, followed by Naila and Sidra of Bannu. In badminton, Bannu defeated Lakki Mawat 2-0. In the women’s singles, Khadija of Bannu beat Palwasha of Lakki Marwat.
