Progress in FATA: Health officials satisfied with eradication efforts

Yousufzai said the responsibility rested with all stakeholders to ensure coordination in efforts to eradicate polio

Health officials expressed satisfaction over measures taken to eradicate poliovirus from Federally Administered Tribal Areas.


These views were expressed by experts and physicians at a roundtable conference with the media at a local hotel on Thursday. Senior journalist Rahimullah Yousafzai was the moderator.


The meeting was attended by FATA Directorate of Health’s Dr Nadeem Jan, Dr Sahibzada Khalid Khan, Dr Syed Imtiaz Ali Shah, Dr Shabnam Afzal, Saeed Minhas and Shadab Younas.


Yousafzai said, “As a result of integrated efforts by civil administration and security forces, polio cases are on a decline throughout the country, especially in this region.” He added the responsibility rested with all stakeholders to ensure coordination in efforts to eradicate polio.
