"It is with great disappointment that we will be postponing the Broadway opening of 'nerds' due to the loss of a major investor," producer Carl Levin said.
"We are grateful to the one-of-a-kind creative team and cast of this incredibly funny and heartwarming musical that audiences have so enthusiastically adored thus far and we look forward to nerds taking the country by storm," he added.
The show, which advertised itself as a "musical dot comedy" plots the lives of the computer whiz kids who revolutionised the world. It was composed by Hal Goldberg, with book and lyrics by Jordan Allen-Dutton and Erik Weiner.

The show made its debut at the New York Musical Theatre Festival, an annual birthing ground for new work in America's entertainment capital.
Microsoft founder Gates was confirmed last week as the richest person in the world on the latest Forbes list with an estimated wealth of $76.8 billion. His great rival, Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, died in 2011.
