However, the dupatta of a lawn outfit always gets lost in translation, as the prints never show up when worn as a traditional three-piece ensemble. Here, three fashionistas show you fun ways of using a lawn dupatta from Élan to give it new life.

When I saw this colourful bold printed silk Élan dupatta, my first thoughts were that I just had to make use of its flowery nature, so I converted it into a one-shoulder dress that had a lot of movement to it. A black tasselled belt added the much-needed structure to the dress, while my nude pumps gave the perfect balance to the vibrant colours. I kept my accessories minimal: just small pearl earrings and my everyday watch. However, I ended up adding quirky rings that complemented my outfit. For my makeup, since I was aiming for a day-time, dewy look, I went for the classic winged eyeliner, a nude lipstick and a lot of bronzer. I kept my hair air-dried and natural. I would sport this look to a brunch but can very easily see myself wearing this to a party or even to a formal dinner.

My personal style is effortless but with a subtle elegance. I like throwing together different pieces casually. A three-piece lawn suit does not gel in too well with my personal style; I usually prefer a little twist to my regular outfits. So I turned the bold printed silk dupatta into a draped jacket. I love wearing block colours so I had to add a block-coloured top and flared pants, which provided a perfect palette with the bold bright print. Generally being a minimalist, I chose few accessories, just some rings and a bracelet. For my hair, I went for a bouncy blow-dry from Nabila’s while keeping my make-up simple with a highlighter, some blush and a lot of mascara. I added a bright pink lipstick for a radiant day look. I can see myself wearing this outfit to a very formal lunch or a casual dinner.

I usually wear solids and don’t generally opt for prints, but my favourite piece of a lawn outfit is the dupatta. This particular one had such an amazing print that I knew I had to utilize it. I went for an asymmetrical, off-shoulder dress top and paired it with boot-cut pants. As far as my styling goes, I opted for some gold accessories; a cuff by Kenneth Jay Lane, some funky rings and these jade drop earrings from my own label. The print is very busy, hence I didn’t go overboard with the make-up, instead opting for a winged eyeliner and a dark pink/purple lipstick, Flat Out Fabulous, by MAC. I used a black edging to make the dress top complete and paired the outfit with black Sandro pumps. To complete the look, I decided to pull back my hair while retaining the volume in it. Even though opting for the print is somewhat unusual for me, I would wear this look for an evening party as a dress.
