Safe drinking water: Seven water supply projects approved for Cholistan

The additional commissioner told officials to finish the projects before the scorching summer arrived

Seven water supply schemes have been approved for Bahawalpur’s Cholistan area at a cost of Rs185 million.


The projects were approved in a meeting of the Divisional Development Working Party. Under the revised budget, water supply schemes will be completed on priority so that more people could benefit from the provision of safe drinking water, the participants said. They decided to spend Rs25 million on a water supply scheme in Sodian; Rs29 million on the scheme in Chaiwala; Rs26 million on the scheme in Bhai Khanwala; Rs34.4 million on the scheme in Khair Bada; Rs25.3 million on the scheme in Shahiwala; Rs15.7 million on the scheme in Kabulwala; and Rs30 million on the scheme in Bhaniawala.


The additional commissioner told officials to finish the projects before the scorching summer arrived. “It is our duty to ensure supply of safe drinking water to the people of Cholistan.”
