HYDERABAD:

Home minister Suhail Siyal chose to stay ambiguous on the government's stance on granting special powers to Rangers.

The Rangers recently requested the Supreme Court for authority to investigate and prosecute terror suspects. "The government will take a decision as per the law," he said, while talking to the media in Hyderabad on Wednesday.

The home minister also avoided to comment on the IG's report that was rejected by the judges, stating that a reply has been submitted in court.

Siyal said the joint interrogation report into the Baldia factory fire has been received by his ministry but he did not disclose the involvement of estranged MQM leader Anis Kaimkhani. On allegations of Indian spy agency's connection with the MQM, he said the federal government can probe the matter.

Siyal reiterated complaints against the federal government for allegedly failing to honour its commitment of sharing the cost of the Karachi operation.
