Accidental death: Man dies after being hit by train

The Railways police can only take action if an incident takes place before the outer signal of the station

RAWALPINDI: A man died after he was hit by a train while trying to cross the railway tracks near Bakery Chowk in Ratta Amral area of Rawalpindi on Sunday, police said. Habibur Rehman, 40, was hit when he was on his way to Railway Colony. A railway police officer told The Express Tribune that the man was hit by a railcar coming from Margallah Railway Station. He said that since the incident took place outside the jurisdiction of the Railways police, they could not take any action. The Railways police can only take action if an incident takes place before the outer signal of the station. Investigation officer Sub-Inspector Yaqoob Shah of Ratta Amral police station told The Express Tribune that the death had been declared an accident. Hence, the police would take no legal action.
