BAHAWALPUR:

Food Minister Bilal Yaseen said on Friday that the government would hold consultations with agriculturists and flourmill owners over the next two weeks for their input on the policy for wheat purchase this season.

He was addressing a meeting at the Commissioner’s Office with farmers and flour mill owners from across the division.

The minister said government teams were visiting divisional headquarters across the province for suggestions from farmers and flourmill owners for improving the wheat purchase campaign.

“Our goal is to facilitate small farmers,” he said

He said this year the government was working on a package for farmers who owned less than 12.5 acres.

The minister said the number of gunny bags to be distributed had also been increased so that there was no shortage. He said a suggestion for providing 100 bags rather than 50 bags per acre was being considered.
