Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar on Thursday sent a legal notice to ARY Chief Executive and Anchor Dr Shahid Masood for allegedly levelling baseless allegations against the minister and his character assassination.

According to Independent News Agency, Dar demanded  that Dr Masood tender an apology within 14 days and pay a compensation of Rs1 billion.

The legal notice, served through a counsel to the federal minister, claims that the anchor in his programme -- aired on February 19 -- used false and misleading information which damaged the reputation of his client

It warns that if the anchor fails to comply with legal requirements, he will be deemed responsible for any further legal action.

Dar has also filed a complaint against Dr Masood with the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra), seeking legal
