Smuggling Narcotics: Two men awarded life imprisonment

The court also ordered an additional imprisonment of six months in case he failed to pay the fine

PESHAWAR: Two men were handed life imprisonment sentences on Thursday for smuggling narcotics in separate cases. Additional session judge Riffat Amir sentenced a man to life in prison; he was convicted in a narcotics smuggling case. The judge also imposed a Rs50,000 fine on him. During the hearing, prosecutor Zulfiqar said Shahrukh, a resident of Sherpao village of Charsadda district, was arrested from Musakhel within the jurisdiction of Badabher police station in the provincial capital on November 23, 2014. He added the police also seized 12 kilogrammes of hashish from his possession. The court also ordered an additional imprisonment of six months in case he failed to pay the fine. Meanwhile, additional session judge Ali Gohar awarded life imprisonment and imposed a fine worth Rs100,000 on a man also convicted of smuggling narcotics.
