The MoU was signed by PIPH Project Director Dr Saeed Anwar and Health Secretary Dr Jamal Yousaf at the health secretariat on Wednesday. The agreement will enable PIPH to use data from all government-run health facilities for research purposes.
As per the MoU, PIPH will seek available data – both administrative and clinical – from all health facilities. These will include rural health centres, civil dispensaries, basic health units, district and tehsil headquarters hospitals and tertiary hospitals from across the province.
The purpose of the agreement is to enter into a partnership to facilitate quality research conducted by students and faculty members on key public health issues that are crippling the province. “We will be analysing the data of different hospitals from various parts of the province and carry out research on different diseases,” Anwar told The Express Tribune.
He said PIPH will closely monitor reasons for the increase and decrease in the number of patients suffering from various diseases. The MoU will allow both partners to conduct research in priority areas suggested by the health department and develop policy recommendations for the government.
